Local reality

Can a group of people living in isolation create a unique reality paradigm? I'm thinking of, for example, a Tibetan monastery where astounding feats such as levitation, teleportation and the ability to adjust one's own body temperature to withstand any external conditions have all been witnessed on numerous occasions and are seen as the result of diligent practice.

How much of a role does the firm belief held by all local inhabitants factor in these successes? How easily are such results duplicated outside of such an environment? My take - not very!! Lastly, how much can be attributed to the fact that given the environment and the lack of worldly distractions, anyone can accomplish these things, regardless of any local paradigm?

I suspect that while the environment plays a large part, the supporting cast plays a highly valuable role in creating a reality where such breakthroughs are possible. Of course, once one has succeeded at such astounding feats, they should be repeatable in any setting.

if all minds are focused on one goal, then i think anything is possible. people sometimes underestimate the power of the mind, so they throw out as poppycock the idea of groupthink. if people's minds are strong enough to withstand those outer barriers, then anything is possible.

I've done a lot of different kinds of meditation and it's true that a group of people, especially one with a common focus and experience level, is far more than the sum of its parts.

I have a feeling that expectations are overlayed
(people with strong expectations have a thicker "aura").

... and the "overlay" primes that area for events that are defined by the expectation boundaries.

      Simular stories occur accross india.

That is why hype and "Psyching" yourself is important... and where you go into a place expecting x but the moment it arrives you expect the opposite.

I also think that is why people attract what they beleive... (partially do to that is where hteir attention is geared to "see")

Thus not nec. repeatable in any setting or with differnt audiences.

I wonder if people leave a "trail" of where they have been for that too. Sometimes it feels that places have their own expectation "aura".
